Personal Profile

Professor Zhong Jin received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Peking University in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Then, he pursued postdoctoral studies at Rice University (2008-2010) and MIT (2010-2014). In 2014, he joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Nanjing University as a professor. He is the founding Director of New Materials and Energy Technology Research Center, and the Executive Director of Institute of Green Chemistry and Engineering.

Professor Zhong Jin's research interests focus on clean energy materials chemistry and green chemical engineering, including the rational design and mechanism studies of novel materials for clean energy conversion and storage devices, such as secondary batteries, redox flow batteries, and photo-/electro-catalytic systems. He is also interested in the controlled preparation and functional devices of low-dimensional nanomaterials and assembled nanostructures. He has co-authored more than 300 papers on refereed journals, with over 23000 citations and a H-index of 80 (WoS). He was picked as a Clarivate Global Highly Cited Researcher (2021-2024) and Elsevier Chinese Highly Cited Scholar (2021-2024).

Professor Zhong Jin's was honoured with National Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talents Program of China (2020), National Natural Science Award of China (2021), Natural Science Award of MOE of China (2018), Science and Technology Award of Chemical Engineering Society of China (2024), Science and Technology Award of Jiangsu Province of China (2021), Huawei Spark Award (2023), RSC Horizon Prize (2023), Best Editor Award of Nano Research journal (2021 and 2023). He is an associate editor of Frontiers in Chemistry, Nanomaterials, and young star editorial member of Nano Research,SmartMat, Electron, Chinese Chemical Letters, and Journal of Electrochemistry.
